The closest racecourse to London, just 16 miles away, it is set in Sunbury-on-Thames half a mile from Junction 1 of the M3. National Hunt fans are treated at Christmas to the King George VI Chase while its new floodlit all-weather track, opened in 2006, gives it all-year round and floodlit racing.
The racecourse was the idea of 19th century businessman S.H. Hyde, who leased Kempton Manor and Park for sale and set up racing in 1878.
Right-handed Polytrack. Made up of two tracks, 1m and 1m 2f both tracks are oval in nature. There is no advantage in the draw.
Right-hand triangular course of 1m 5f in extent with a run-in of 175yds. There are ten fences and six hurdles per circuit, a fair test for a jumper.
