Sweden’s third oldest trotting track is Bergsåker in Sundsvall, which was inaugurated as early in June 1932. Bergsåker is run by Norrlands Travsällskap, which was formed the year before the track’s inauguration.
The year-round track usually counts as the country’s fourth largest trot track after Solvalla, Åby and Jägersro.
The Sundsvall Open Trot, which has been held at the end of August since 1996, is Norrland’s largest annual recurring sporting event with an audience figure of around 25,000 people during the two days. During the Sundsvall Open Trot weekend, the Swedish Championship for Cold Blood is also decided on Bergsåker.
Bergsåker is one of the co-organizers of the three-year series E3, so every year also runs some of the races in that series on the track.
