The Åbytravet in Mölndal just outside Gothenburg is Sweden’s second largest trotting track. The track was inaugurated on 28 June 1936, and until 1976 was a combined trot and canter track.
The track’s number one race is Åby Stora Pris, which is run in mid-August. The race has been run almost every year since 1936 and today is considered one of the largest international races in Sweden.
Åby's big race season is rounded off in October with the Swedish Championship.
The Åbytravet is unique as it is the only trot track in the country to have double so-called open stretch tracks on the homestretch.
Åby's course is relatively wide with 22.3 meters at both starting points.
